Enric Sala

Enric Sala Gamito, is researcher at the CEAB lab from the CSIC and National Geographic Society fellow. He wrote his thesis on the effects of protection on sublittoral communities studying the case of Medes Islands Protected Area. After his thesis, he was a postdoc at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography (SIO, California, USA) where, he became later an associate lecturer at the SIO and the deputy director of the Centre for Marine Biodiversity and Conservation. He has been the principal investigator on numerous projects that have dealt with the effects of fishing on coastal ecosystems and the design and planning of marine reserves. At present, his research focuses on pristine ecosystems, to assess their baselines and understand the effects of anthropogenic disturbances.
